~Hurricane season starts June 1st each year and ends November 30th~
Make sure you have all your valuables ready
to go if you need to evacuate!!!!!
" Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am
meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find
rest unto your souls."
~Matthew 11:29~
Do you know what a Hurricane WATCH & WARNING mean?
WATCH: Hurricane conditions are possible in the specified area of the WATCH, usually within 36 hours .
WARNING: Hurricane conditions are expected in the specified area of the WARNING, usually within 24 hours .
LEARN what to do during a WATCH OR a WARNING:
What to Do When a Hurricane WATCH Is Issued:
- Listen to NOAA Weather Radio or local radio or TV stations for up-to-date storm information.
- Prepare to bring inside any lawn furniture, outdoor decorations or ornaments, trash cans, hanging plants, and anything else that can be picked up by the wind.
- Prepare to cover all windows of your home. If shutters have not been installed, use precut plywood as described above. Note: Tape does not prevent windows from breaking, so taping windows is not recommended.
- Fill your car's gas tank.
- Recheck manufactured home tie-downs.
- Check batteries and stock up on canned food, first aid supplies, drinking water, and medications.
"When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee." ~Isaiah 43:2~
What to Do When a Hurricane WARNING Is Issued:
- Listen to the advice of local officials, and leave if they tell you to do so.
- Complete preparation activities.
- If you are not advised to evacuate, stay indoors, away from windows.
- Be aware that the calm "eye" is deceptive; the storm is not over. The worst part of the storm will happen once the eye passes over and the winds blow from the opposite direction. Trees, shrubs, buildings, and other objects damaged by the first winds can be broken or destroyed by the second winds.
- Be alert for tornadoes. Tornadoes can happen during a hurricane and after it passes over. Remain indoors, in the center of your home, in a closet or bathroom without windows.
- Stay away from flood waters. If you come upon a flooded road, turn around and go another way. If you are caught on a flooded road and waters are rising rapidly around you, get out of the car and climb to higher ground.
Don't forget that we don't have to fear. We can trust that the
Lord cares for us and keeps us in the palm of His hand.
"The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him." ~Nahum 1:7~
And if you are still afraid then: Pray and ask the Lord to protect you. Ask Him to send His angels to protect you and minister to you in your need. Plead the BLOOD of Jesus over yourself and your home. There is power in the blood. Quote Bible Verses and sing scripture choruses. Grab your Bible and flashlight. Read the word of God in the bathroom tub if that is the safest place in your home. Or take it with you to the closest Hurricane shelter.
Remember that the Lord only promises us today. We never know what tomorrow will bring. But the Lord does. He knows your needs and your heart and yet loves you unconditionally. Don't put off until tomorrow what you need to do today. Get your relationship and heart right with the Lord. Eternity is a long time to spend without Him.
