Book Covers by Josh Kirby (original) (raw)
The listed dates are from Josh Kirby's records of when he completed or invoiced for each painting. He did not, as a general rule, keep track of foreign-language reappearances which were not specific book commissions. The listing format is: Title; Year; Author or Editor; Publisher. Publication dates which are known to differ from Josh's listing (usually one year later owing to publication lag) appear in square brackets after the publisher's name.
Besides MAGAZINES and BOOKS there are separate sections below for FILM POSTERS, for PORTFOLIOS, ART BOOKS, COMPUTER GAMES, POSTERS, ETC. and (added by David Langford) for REPRINTS. The main BOOKS list is avowedly incomplete because Josh preferred not to acknowledge his many covers – however highly regarded – whose content was purely realistic. Stephen Holland reports several examples published by Panther.
