Portsmouth sign West Brom midfielder Scott Allan (original) (raw)
Portsmouth have signed West Brom's Scott Allan on a month-long loan deal, after gaining Football League approval.
Boss Michael Appleton has raided his old club West Brom following the exit of Erik Huseklepp to Birmingham.
The Scotland Under-21 international midfielder will join fellow Baggie George Thorne at Fratton Park.
"He is a fantastic talent and a young lad and someone I know from my time at West Brom and I think it a great chance for him," Appleton told BBC Solent.
Despite interest from Celtic and Rangers, 20-year-old Allan joined West Brom from Dundee United for £300,000 in January on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
Portsmouth are under a transfer embargo from the Football League that only allows them to bring a player in after one has left or if they have less than 14 fit players available.
The club are currently in administration and were docked 10 points by the Football League last week as punishment.
Meanwhile, captain Liam Lawrence has told BBC Radio Solent the players are taking wage cut until May and they have also written off their January wages.
The club's players and staff have not been paid since December.
