P.O.D. guitarist Marcos has exited the inspirational-leaning hard rock outfit, frontman Sonny announced in an E-mail to fans. “Because of your loyalty and respect, it saddens me to say that Marcos is no longer with P.O.D.,” Sonny wrote. “As some of you may have already heard, Marcos has chosen to pursue his own vision apart from P.O.D. Never have we imagined P.O.D. without him, but we now know this vision is bigger than the four of us.”
Living Sacrifice guitarist Jason Truby has stepped in to replace Marcos for the time being, but Sonny did not reveal whether the arrangement is permanent. “[Jason] brings an excitement and a fire to the table that will take P.O.D. to the next level,” Sonny said. “Through great challenges come great rewards and we’re more confident now than ever of where we are going.”
Sonny also revealed that P.O.D. is writing the lead single for the soundtrack to “The Matrix Reloaded,” which arrives May 15 in U.S. theaters. “We will soon begin writing our third full-length record for Atlantic Records,” he concluded.
That set will be the follow-up to 2001’s “Satellite,” which debuted at No. 6 on The Billboard 200 and has sold more than 2.5 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
