Norah Keeps Bad Boys At Bay (original) (raw)

“Feels Like Home” from Norah Jones scores a fifth straight week atop The Billboard 200, staving off a hearty bow from a CD/DVD commemorating the 10th anniversary of Bad Boy Records.

U.S. sales of Jones’ sophomore Blue Note release are down 10.5% to 183,000 copies for the week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The set’s sales total is just above the 2 million mark.

“Bad Boy’s 10th Anniversary: The Hits” lands at No. 2 with 150,000 copies. The album features one new song, “Victory 2004,” a remix of the 1997 Sean “P. Diddy” Combs track. The updated version features contributions from 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes and G-Unit’s Lloyd Banks. The album also includes hits by the Notorious B.I.G., Mase and 112, among others.

Jessica Simpson’s “In This Skin” (Columbia) is down one to No. 3 with 116,000 copies, a 27% decline from the previous week. Evanescence’s “Fallen” (Wind-Up) is down one to No. 4, suffering a 9% drop to 107,000 copies, and Kenny Chesney’s “When the Sun Goes Down” (BNA) rounds out the top-five with 95,400 copies.

The only upward movement in the upper echelon of the chart comes from Maroon5’s “Songs About Jane.” The group’s Octone debut glides 11-7 on a 6% sales gain to 67,000 copies, bringing the album into the top 10 nearly two years after its release. The set has sold about 1 million copies to date; single “This Love” is up 8-5 on Billboard’s Top 40 Mainstream chart.

Notable debuts this week include Tesla’s “Into the Now” (Sanctuary), at No. 31 with 30,000 copies; Cross Canadian Ragweed’s “Soul Gravy” (Universal South), at No. 51 with 22,000 copies; Suga Free’s “The New Testament” (Bungalo), at No. 72 with 17,000 copies; and “Here Come the Brides” (Sanctuary) from the Brides of Destruction, at No. 92 with 13,600 copies.

Overall U.S. sales are down about 2.7% to 11.3 million, about 1% ahead of the comparable week last year. Sales for the year are besting those of 2003 by about 8.7%.
