Norah Jones’ “Feels Like Home” coasts to a fourth straight week atop The Billboard 200. U.S. sales of the album are down about 27%, but the Blue Note release still moves 204,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Jessica Simpson’s “In This Skin” (Columbia) rockets 16-2, with sales gaining 204% to 160,000 copies. “In This Skin” was rereleased last week with additional tracks and a bonus DVD. The star of MTV’s “Newlyweds,” now in its second-season, has also been boosting sales with a Wal-Mart tour. The album’s current single, “With You,” is No. 2 on Billboard’s Top 40 Mainstream chart. In 29 weeks of release, “In This Skin” has sold 1.08 million copies.
Evanescence’s “Fallen” (Wind-Up) is up one spot to No. 3 in its 53rd week on the tally. Sales are down about 5% to 118,000 copies. The act’s “My Immortal” is No. 4 on the Top 40 Mainstream chart.
“The College Dropout,” the first offering from hip-hop star Kanye West, falls 2-4 on The Billboard 200 in its fourth week. Sales of the Roc-A-Fella album are down 19% to 107,000 copies. West’s “Through the Wire” is No. 36 on the Top 40 Mainstream chart.
Kenny Chesney’s BNA album “When the Sun Goes Down” holds at No. 5, with sales down 5.6% to 90,000 copies. Rounding out the top 10 are OutKast’s “Speakerboxx/The Love Below” (Arista), gaining 7-6; Josh Groban’s “Closer” (Reprise), which dips 6-7; “The Very Best of Sheryl Crow,” (A&M) which jumps 10-8 on a 9% boost; Twista’s “Kamikaze” (Atlantic), down one to No. 9; and Eamon’s Jive debut “I Don’t Want You Back,” down one to No. 10.
“Cee-Lo Green is the Soul Machine” is the chart’s top new arrival, debuting at No. 13 with 56,000 copies sold. The second Arista album from the former Goodie Mob member, “Soul Machine” falls just short of the No. 11 arrival of his 2002 set “Cee-Lo Green and His Perfect Imperfections.”
Other notable entries include the Razor & Tie compilation “Tha Down Low,” which enters at No. 22 with 39,000 copies, Clint Black’s “Spend My Time” (Equity Music Group), which lands at No. 27 with 37,000 copies and the Get Up Kids’ “Guilt Show” (Vagrant), which bows at No. 58 with 22,000 copies.
Overall U.S. album sales are down about 2.4% to 11.6 million units, about the same as the comparable week last year. Sales for the year are besting those of 2003 by 9.4%.
