Toowoomba star and one of Australia’s greatest ever boxers, Michael Katsidis “The Great”, 28 wins (23KO) 6 losses, will make his much anticipated return to the ring against tough Indonesian Eddy Comaro, 27 Wins (11KO) 17 losses 5 draws, when he headlines “Smithy Brings the Big fights 6” on March 14 at Rumours International in Toowoomba.
Katsidis, a former two time WBO world lightweight champion who has fought all over the world against some of the best fighters in the world and some future hall of famers, will step into the ring for the first time in almost two years and says he is very excited to do it in his hometown of Toowoomba.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back in the ring,” said Katsidis. “It has been eight years since I last fought in Toowoomba and I am very excited to have this fight in my hometown in front of my friends and family. I know Eddy is a tough, strong and experienced fighter but I am training hard and I will be ready to put on a great show and make it a successful night”.
Promoter and Katsidis’ trainer and manager Brendon Smith said having Michael fight in Toowoomba is not only huge for the garden city, but presents Eddy Comaro with a massive opportunity which can be dangerous.
“Eddy Comaro is a strong fighter,” said Brendon Smith. “He is very experienced and having the opportunity to fight Michael gives him the chance to make himself a legend. We expect him to be at 110% for this fight but Michael will be ready for whatever comes his way”.
