| BWPL newsletter - click here to subscribe SARAH ON TARGET ONCE AGAINChampions City of Manchester, Sheffield Sharks and Liverpool Lizards were the only teams to complete the first weekend of games in women’s Division 1 with two victories apiece. _See News and Results pages._After scoring ten for Otter in her team's defeat by Sheffield on day one, Sarah Snyder added five more, this time in a winning cause - 14-8 against Tyldesley.BWPL's first penalty shoot-out provided real drama at Haberdashers where Rotherham Metro edged out Liverpool Liver Birds 16-15. The teams were locked at 7-7 after regular time. Then, with goalkeepers Grace Kaye (Metro) and Jess Freeman (Liver Birds) between them saving seven of the nine five-metre shots, the game progressed to 15-15. Finally, Ellie Weatherill slotted home for Rotherham, who took two points. Liverpool's consolation was a single point. The men's programme gets under way on 28 and 29 September with matches in all three divisions at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. EVENT CLASHES AFFECT NEW BWPL SEASONTwo prestige BWPL events – the Super 5s on 8/9 February and men’s Championship 1 and 2 finale, 8/9 March – are to go ahead in the new season even though they will clash with national squad training weekends.
