Konica 60/1.2 Leica Screw Mount

The limited production 60/1.2 Konica Hexanon went on sale in March 1999. Here it is pictured on the Phoenix JG-50, a rare 500 production Chinese Leica Copy with TTL metering commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. So far as I know, this is the only 60/1.2 lens ever made in Leica screw mount -- or ANY rangefinder mount for that matter.

This rare multicoated Hexanon boasts 7 elements in 6 groups, and was sold complete with chrome brightline finder, vented hood, and push on front cap. it listed for a modest 190,000 Yen --- or about $1600 at a 120 exchange rate. Production was only 800 lenses. Each lens is marked "xxx/800". I wish all limited edition cameras and lenses were so marked: it would make things so much easier for collectors AND dealers.

The Konica 60/1.2 has 10 aperture blades for a round aperture and maximum Bokeh. F/stops run from 1.2 to f/16. Close focus is .8 meters. Filter size is 58mm. Here it is mounted on a Leica IIIg. This is a rare lens even in Japan, but it is much rarer outside of Japan since it was not officially exported.
