Cargolux and Arthur Welter are proud to announce their collaboration on a hydrogen-powered truck project. The long-standing partners are working together on a two-year initial trial for a dedicated trucking service powered by hydrogen. The Arthur Welter vehicle will operate on behalf of Cargolux five times a week between Luxembourg and Frankfurt.

Cargolux has decided to ban the transport of disposable electronic cigarettes on all its flights, including those operated by Cargolux Italia. This measure comes in response to growing concern about the adverse effects of these products on both public health and the environment. Disposable e-cigarettes pose a significant risk to human health, particularly for younger generations, given their targeted marketing with attractive flavors. Additionally, these devices contain lithium batteries which, as they are not recyclable, become an environmental risk if not properly disposed of. Several countries have already imposed bans on these products in their territories.

Norsk e-Fuel is proud to announce major partnership milestones by closing significant agreements on offtake and investment. Two international airlines – Norwegian Air Shuttle and Cargolux Airlines International S.A. have committed to purchase fossil free aviation fuel. Norwegian will in addition join Norsk e-Fuel’s shareholder group, which will as of now be led by the existing shareholder and renowned engineering, procurement, and construction company Paul Wurth, a subsidiary of SMS group.

Cargolux is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary, Luxcargo Handling S.A., LCH, has been awarded a license for ramp handling at Luxembourg airport. The decision was announced following a tender process for two ground handling licenses. This license also permits LCH, to handle third party airlines. LCH will take over Luxair’s ramp and warehouse handling operations at Luxembourg’s Findel airport.

Luxembourg, 14 June 2023 – Cargolux, Europe’s number one all-cargo airline, has become the first foreign carrier to uplift Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in China. The operation took place at Zhengzhou airport (CGO), the airline’s main hub in China, with the full support of their local partners HNCA who are shareholders in the company.

Since May 2022, 10 beehives have been installed in the grassland in front of the Cargolux HQ in Luxembourg. The units are part of a broad project, led by lux- Airport, to optimize biodiversity on airport grounds. The vicinity of the HQ is also home to insect hotels built by the airport community employees, and dry hedges that encourage insect and bird development.

During three days, the young participants had the opportunity to explore the world of aviation and air cargo. Our experienced trainers, pilots and prospective aircraft mechanics gave exciting insights into the aviation industry and showed the children what it takes to fly the aircraft and to transport cargo. They got answers to all their questions - How does an airplane fly? What is the life of a pilot like? And what makes the air cargo industry so special? A big thank you to everyone who made the first session a great success! We are looking forward to the second session.

What do you get when you cross a passion for aircraft with artistic talent? The answer is simple, a fantastic collaboration between Luxembourg-based artist Jacques Schneider and Cargolux to create a line of accessories and items made from re-purposed cargo straps!

At the end of April Cargolux was at the annual YEP school fair in Luxembourg. Students of different ages had the opportunity to talk to our instructors, pilots and apprentices, to participate in one of our workshops or to take a picture with a real 747-400 engine. We also released a special Charlie Victor issue dedicated to young talents and our aircraft mechanic apprenticeship.

Cargolux is broadening its horizons and adding a new destination, Penang, Malaysia to its global network. The inaugural flight took place on 30th March and Cargolux was warmly welcomed at the airport.
