How You Can Help

Every day across the Commonwealth a child is removed from their home, a victim of abuse or neglect, through no fault of their own. They are placed into an unknown world of foster care and family court. They need a friend. They need a voice. They need a CASA.

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. We are trained community volunteers who work with foster families, the Family Court System, and the KY Cabinet for Health and Family Services. We serve as an extra set of ears and eyes for the Judge presiding over the case. But most importantly, we are the voice of the child during this time.

Duties of a CASA

So what exactly does a CASA do?

Traits of a CASA

What makes a good CASA? What things do our Advocates have in common beyond their training?

Training

CASA of South Central KY Offers Two Formats For Training!

Training is a total of 30 hours, and that is mandated by the national CASA organization.

Both formats are the required 30 hours.

Traditional Classroom

All 30 hours are held in person in a classroom setting. Dates are determined by the number of advocates and their availability.

Guided Learning

This is a self-paced online program. This format includes five (5), two-hour zoom sessions. This format can begin at any time.

CASA serves Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Metcalfe, Simpson and Warren counties. CASA of South Central KY is the third largest CASA program in Kentucky. Serving eight counties increases the need for more volunteers! So please consider giving some of your time to abused and neglected children in our community!
