The close federal election battle in Edmonton-Mill Woods between Liberal Amarjeet Sohi and Conservative Tim Uppal is going to a judicial recount.
Sohi won the southeast Edmonton riding by a margin of 79 votes on Monday. Uppal went to court in Edmonton Friday to ask for the recount.
"The judge accepted 18 different affidavits citing irregularities with vote counting and tallying," said his lawyer, Jonathan Denis, the former provincial MLA and cabinet minister.
"My client simply wants the public to have confidence that the winner is in fact the winner regardless of who it is."
The recount will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week, Denis said.
