Home - Chelsea Primary School (original) (raw)
Nau mai ki te kura o Chelsea. A warm welcome to you all.
Our school prides itself on ‘Growing Great Learners – Te Whakatipu Ākonga Miharo. From the moment you walk through our school gates you will be able to see and feel our Chelsea DNA and values in action.
We keep the learners at the heart of our school with a special focus on their well-being and learning – we truly care about our ākonga and walk side by side with them to achieve success. We want learning to be fun and we have a dedicated teaching and learning support team who make sure this happens!
At Chelsea School you will find students and teachers from many different cultures and backgrounds. We are really proud of this and take every opportunity to embrace and celebrate this diversity while treasuring the tāonga that is te ao Māori.
When you join Chelsea you become part of our Whānau – it truly is a special place.
Please come and see for yourself.
OUR DNA
Our DNA has strong links to the key competencies from the New Zealand Curriculum, and the work of Carol Dweck based on the concept of ‘Growth Mindset. In order to thrive as future-focused learners, we believe that our students must be able to:
With each other, with teachers, whānau and members of the community.
To be able to use written and spoken words with a clear voice as well as symbols and code to communicate thoughts, feelings & ideas.
To build their resilience and to persevere when faced with tricky learning or situations. We explicitly teach ‘Growth Mindset’.
Curiosity is at the heart of great learning. We want our learners to question and challenge in order to make connections to the world around them.
OUR VALUES
Our Values are key qualities and attributes that ‘Grow Great People’.
