Taylor Turned To Judaism To Cope With Todd's Death (original) (raw)

Movie veteran Elizabeth Taylor converted to Judaism after the death of her third husband MIKE TODD because her Christian Science faith didn't help her cope with the grief of his loss. Taylor was devastated when Todd died in 1958 - just a year into their marriage, and she felt she needed increased spiritual strength to move forward, so she turned to Judaism. She explains, "I needed, after Mike's death, some sort of very strong faith to keep me alive, something to hang onto and I didn't find it in Christian Science. "I wanted to be close to Mike, so I studied Judaism for a year after his death and then converted." Todd was killed when his private plane, The Lucky Liz, crashed in a blizzard in New Mexico.
