Millstreet is situated midway between Killarney and Mallow. The town which is almost three hundred years old nestles beneath picturesque Clara Mountain. The meandering rivers Finnow and Blackwater enhance the beauty of this area which is situated in both the Duhallow and Muskerry baronies.

The population of the town at 1,500 is very conscious of the rich traditions and culture of the locality. Irish music, song and dance is so very much part of the lives of Millstreet people. The local community spirit has often been commented upon by many.

It was during the preparations for the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest which was held in Millstreet's Green Glens that this generous spirit truly shone. Since that very historic 15th May in 1993 when over three hundred million television viewers were introduced to this attractive setting in Co. Cork the name of Millstreet has become famous.

When in the area we encourage our welcome visitors to view our award-winning Millstreet Railway Station (built in 1853), to walk around our town which has charm and character, to visit our Holy wells at Tubrid (2km west of the town) and St. John's Well, Mushera ( a brief drive south of the town amidst some of the most breathtaking panoramic scenery). Visit our Town Park in Millstreet as well as the splendidly refurbished St. Anna's Amenity Park at Pound Hill, to experience the rich history and archaeological gems of the area. Spend a most enjoyable day in the magnificent Millstreet Country Park with its exquisite gardens, fascination scenic viewing areas and its herd of deer as well as its very modern Visitors' Centre and excellent restaurant.

Historic Drishane with its 15th century castle and impressive grounds is very much part of a local tour. The Mount Leader Industrial Estate with its very fine factories - Alps, Moles and K & L Company - demonstrates the way forward for the future generations and yet respects the need to preserve the beauty of our treasured environment.

The Green Glens Arena in Millstreet, is a large venue arena is now world-famous for its important equestrian events but is busy throughout the year hosting many events previous such events included Millstreet International Horse Show, Millstreet Grand Prix, September Horse Fair, National Dairy Show, The Self Build Exhibition, and the Spring Farm Machinery Show.
