ENGRG 150 ENGINEERING SEMINAR (original) (raw)
Engineering 150 is a one-credit fall course that lets first-year students get to know their faculty advisors during the first eight to ten weeks of the semester. Students meet regularly as a group with their faculty advisor to discuss a range of engineering topics. Discussions may include the engineering curriculum, aspects of various engineering careers, active research in the college and engineering in general, and study and examination skills useful to engineering students. Groups may also visit campus academic, engineering, and research facilities. All first-year students are pre-registered in a section of ENGRG 150. The objectives of ENGRG 150 are:
- To let engineering first-year students meet regularly with their faculty advisors in a friendly atmosphere at the start of their academic careers so that they can develop supportive relationships and the understanding necessary for effective communication
- To provide first-year students with an introduction and orientation to engineering activities and the College of Engineering
- To help students improve study, examination, and survival skills useful in the College of Engineering
- To make students conscious of the ethical principles by which members of the Cornell community as well as all engineers should abide For further general information about the Engineering 150 Seminar, see here.
