About Cambridge University Golf Club

Golf at Cambridge is a Full Blue sport. There are three teams: the Blues, the Stymies, and the Ladies’ team.

The annual Varsity Match against Oxford is the oldest amateur event in golf, predating the first Amateur Championship. This year’s match, the 136th University Match, will take place on the 28th and 29th of March 2025 at Royal North Devon Golf Club. Cambridge University Golf Club welcomes all students who are passionate about playing golf for an exciting year of competitive golf, meeting fellow golf enthusiasts and socialising. Teams

Blues

The first team are also known as the ‘Blues’. Handicaps are usually 5 or below.

The Blues play a full fixture list in the Michaelmas and Lent terms, culminating in the University Match at the end of March.

Stymies

The Stymies are the Men’s second team and handicaps usually range from 6 to around 12.

The Stymies play an extensive fixture list in the Michaelmas and Lent terms, culminating in a match against the Oxford Divots at the end of March.

Ladies

The Ladies’ team is generally comprised of single figure to mid-handicap players.

The Ladies play regular matches during both the Michaelmas and Lent terms, culminating with the Varsity Match against Oxford in March, with Blues, half-Blues, and Colours on offer.
