Ex-Celtic striker Cillian Sheridan escapes ban for speeding (original) (raw)
FORMER Celtic star Cillian Sheridan yesterday avoided a driving ban over a speeding charge.
Sheridan, 21, kept his licence despite being convicted of a second driving offence, which usually means an automatic ban for a young driver.
The striker, now at Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia, was charged at Glasgow magistrates court with driving at 70mph in a 50mph zone on the M8.
Sheridan was given another three points on his licence, but escaped being disqualified at yesterday's hearing on a technicality.
Sheridan signed for Celtic in 2006 after starting his career at his local club in Bailieboro, County Cavan, Ireland.
