The funeral for late Boyzone star Stephen Gately has been confirmed to take place on Saturday in Dublin.

The singer died in his sleep while on holiday in Majorca last Saturday. A post-mortem performed on the 33-year-old found that he had passed away from natural causes after suffering a pulmonary oedema, which is a build-up of fluid on the lungs.

Gately's former bandmates will fly his body home on Friday from the island, BBC News reports.

"The Boyz plan to return to Majorca on Friday to bring their brother back home to Dublin," the group said in a statement.

His family is to hold a private mass that evening, which will be followed by a memorial service at St. Lawrence O'Toole's Church at midday on Saturday.

Louis Walsh announced that he will be in attendance at the ceremony. However, it is currently unclear if he will return in time for Saturday's X Factor.
