An inquest was yesterday held in this town on view of the body of a man named Peter Glasson, who lost his life whilst engaged in the shaft of the new coal pit at this place. The deceased was employed at the bottom of the shaft; and a bucket which was being lowered down having got entangled in its descent, was suspended for some time, and when set at liberty it fell upon the head of the unfortunate man, who before he could be brought to the surface was a corpse. Verdict accordingly.
