Newspaper Articles Newspaper Articles 4th June 1914, Page: 10, Column: 5 A Burradon Fatality Last night, at the Royal Infirmary, Newcastle, an inquest was held on the body of Benjamin Kell (36), a stoneman employed at Burradon Colliery. — It was stated in evidence that Kell, whilst lying on the railway was run over by a light engine travelling from Dinnington Colliery. Both of his legs were cut off that the ankle. The men in charge of the engine bound the injured limbs and carried Kell to the nearest surgery. Subsequently he was taken to the Newcastle Infirmary, where he died. Whilst being conveyed to the doctor's Kell sang loudly, "Love me and the world is mine." — The jury returned a verdict to the effect that Kell had succumbed to injuries accidentally received whilst trespassing.
