E-SWARM: Engineering Swarm Intelligence Systems
E-SWARM is a project funded by the European Research Council - Advanced Grants program of the European Union (Grant 246939).
The main goals of E-SWARM are:
- the development of scientific foundations for the engineering of artificial swarm intelligence systems
- the creation of an engineering methodology for the construction of swarm intelligence systems
- the development of concrete tools and techniques with which to construct swarm intelligence systems
These activities will be contextualized within a series of challenging case studies that will serve to test the ideas and theory developed in the foundations and methodology activities and that will provide important feedback to the foundations and methodology components.
The main case studies have been chosen in the domains of optimization and robotics.
The principal investigator of the project is Professor Marco Dorigo, one of the founders of the swarm intelligence and swarm robotics research fields.
