The UniProt Protein DAS Server (original) (raw)
The distributed annotation system (DAS) is a client-server system in which a single client integrates information from multiple servers. The UniProt DAS server provides access to sequence and annotation from UniProtKB and UniParc. The server also gives access to Gene Ontology Annotation of UniProt sequences (GOA) and theoretical tryptic digests of protein sequences. Researchers can easily access DAS data through the use of suitable DAS client such as Dasty3 or directly in the XML format provided by the servers.
An extremely useful resource for users of DAS is the DAS Registration Server that supports registry and discovery of DAS services. The data sources provided by the UniProt DAS server are all registered with this service.

The UniProt DAS server is built upon the MyDas Java DAS Server Framework. The primary sources of the data available from the UniProt DAS reference server include: UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot,UniProtKB/TrEMBL, UniParc (The UniProt Archive), and GOA (Gene Ontology annotation of UniProt)
