Russian Channel One will be represented at Eurovision Dance Contest 2008 by figure skater Tatiana Navka (regular member of Channel One shows Dancing on Ice and Ice Age cast) and professional dancer Alexander Litvinenko. Couple was selected in June and was exclusively revealed by ESCKaz in early July. Couple will perform mix of cha-cha-cha, samba, rumba, pasodoble and elements of Russian traditional dances on the version of the famous song of Vladimir Vysotskiy "Koni Priveredlivye" performed by Garik Sukachov. Choreographer of the performance is Victor Nikovskiy, who also was responsible for Maria and Vlad performances last year. Tatiana Navka was born on April 13th, 1975 in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukrainian SSR. At the age of five, she started figure skating and moved to Moscow in 1988 to continue her skating career with the famous coach Natalia Dubova. Tatiana originally skated for the Soviet Union with Samuel Gezalian. Following the fall of the Soviet Union, Navka and Gezalian began skating for Belarus. They were placed 11th at the 1994 Winter Olympics. When that partnership fell through, Navka partnered with Nikolai Morozov, with whom she competed at the 1998 Winter Olympics, also for Belarus. Navka left Morozov in 1998. She then partnered with Roman Kostomarov and began competing for Russia. They won the World Championship in 2004 and 2005, as well as the European Championships. They are the 2006 Olympic champions in ice dancing. Navka is married to Alexander Zhulin, who is also her trainer being famous ice figure skater himself, runner-up in the World Championships and Olympic Games. They have one daughter, Sasha, born in 2000. She has lived for several years in New Jersey, USA together with her family. In 2007 Tatiana was invited by Channel One Russia to participate in the first season of the show "Stars On Ice" and with her partner, popular actor Marat Basharov, Tatiana managed to win. Together with Finnish/Russian actor Willie Haapsallo she was runner-up in the second season of this popular program retitled as "Ice Age" (video). In the meantime, she had moved back to Russia together with her husband and her daughter. Tatiana has always liked dancing and is very excited to participate in the 2008 Eurovision Dance Contest. Various other related videos of Tatiana are available on Youtube and Rutube. Alexander Litvinenko, born in Donetsk, Ukrainian SSR in 1972 and lived there until 1988 when he moved to Moscow. He never thought that his life would be connected with Ballroom Dancing and Choreography as he always like birds and animals and thought that he will be an ornithologist or biologist. One day, when he was in a school at the age of 13 a pretty girl, his schoolmate, who was dancing already told him that shewould like him to come with her to dancing school and start dancing with her, otherwise she would not help him in exams! He did it and he stayed in dancing for the rest of his life. In 1988-1993 he became winner of numerous Amateur Latin and Ballroom Dance Competitions and Championships, in 1993 moved to professionals. He danced in Moscow with different partners (Tatiana Sukhova, Natalia Usanova and others) but had the most successful time with Elena Polyakova who became his wife in 1997. In 1998 his son Danila was born. In 2003 he divorced and has since then lived with his mother. Among his best results were the victory of the Russian Grand Prix 1999 and being the bronze medalist of the Russian National Professional Latin Championships in 2001. In 2003 danced with Natalia Prilipko, from 2004 to 2005 danced with Elena Pashkova and became quaterfinalist of Blackpool in both of this years. In 2005 he called over his competetive career and was invited to participate in Russian version of the TV show "Dancing With The Stars", run by channel RTR/Rossiya as a partner of the famous Russian actor Elena Yakovleva, followed by being the partner of Oxana Fedorova, detroned "Miss Universe" 2002. During the 3rd season he was the partner of the very popular TV host and comedian Tatiana Lazareva (you can watch their performances here). In all seasons Alexander's couples finished 4th. He likes figure skating and has always admired Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov. Alexander congratulated Tatiana when she won "Stars On The Ice" - one of the most popular TV project on Russian TV in 2007. At that time, of course, he could not know then that she would become his partner in the 2008 Eurovision Dance Contest! Russian Channel One will broadcast contest live, with commentary provided by Yana Churikova (known as Eurovision spokesperson of the channel) and dance expert Stanislav Popov (who also commented last year broadcast on Russia/RTR channel). Broadcast will take place at 23.00 Moscow time. For the first time, Eurovision will be broadcasted live in whole territory of Russia, Satellite and CIS versions of Channel One will not broadcast the show. On the same day, Channel One will broadcast premiere of the new season of "Ice Age" show, where Tatiana Navka will get paired with actor Vadim Kolganov. 02/09 Channel One Russia has finally launched own site, devoted to Eurovision Dance Contest 2008. There you can watch a news block story devoted to the rehearsals of the couple and other videos and interviews of Channel One, devoted to Eurovision. "I dance through the whole life, I love to dance. I have always succeeded in it, but now I realized how much you need to do, that it is a completely different technique altogether, you should use different brains. Alexander can cope with five hour daily rehearsals only with pain pills. Tatiana's whole body is aching too. 28/08 "Russian newspaper" has published interview with Tatiana in regards to her participation in Eurovision Dance Contest - Tatiana, how do you prepare for the performance and plan to conquer hearts of viewers? - We're working very diligently. It is not easy, it is hard work. And we are going to conquer with everything possible: with soul, dance and beauty. Our dance will be based on the song of Vladimir Vysotsky "Koni priveredlivye" performed by Garik Sukachov. Russian Channel One finally revealed additional information regarding it's participation in Eurovision Dance Contest 2008, where Russia will be represented by Tatiana Navka and Alexander Litvinenko. Russian EDC delegation will include General Producer of the Channel One Alexander Fifeman Alexander, director of the Music Broadcast of the channel Yuri Aksyuta, President of the Russian Dance Union Stanislav Popov, host of Channel One Yana Churikova, choreographer Viktor Nikovsky, stylist Alexander Shevchuk and dancer Anton Sboev. Also Tatiana's mother Raisa will come to support her daughter. Commenting exciting dance tournament will be host of Channel One Yana Churikova, and perhaps the leading specialist on ballroom dancing in Russia, President of the Russian Dance Union Stanislav Popov. Because we understand that all those who took part in this show - actors, TV hosts, athletes, singers - are physically ready for this. They have gone through an enormous amount of training, rehearsing their numbers on ice. We understood that the main thing is to select celebrity partner because a professional will make what he should. When we stopped at Tanya - we started choosing partner for her. In this we were helped by Stanislav Popov - the leading specialist in our country for sports ballroom dancing . He also helped us to find the strongest choreographer of the ballroom dancing in Russia - Viktor Nikovskiy. Since the "Eurovision" - is first and foremost a television show rather than a sports contest, organizers asked participants from each country to add to their performances some national elements. We came to the conclusion that in ballroom dance this elements most easily are transferred through music. Either we take the traditional Latin American music, which has nothing to do with Russia, or were are looking for something own. But, of course, we understood that "Valenki", "Kalinka-malinka" and "Oi, moroz, moroz!" will not fit this role. Then Victor remembered the film "White Nights", in which Mikhail Baryshnikov danced on Vladimir Vysotsky song "Koni priveredlivye" Though there was instrumental version used in the movie, and we took the version performed by Garik Sukachev, who sang this song in the "Old songs" project. The idea inicially came from Victor Nikovsky, and I supported it. This music itself is so emotionally, that it is even difficult to assume that someone could dance on it . But it turned out to be possible. In this dance, there will be elements of traditional ballroom dancing, and national choreography. I do not want to boast, as we haven't seen other competitors yet, but my feelings are that we have a very strong couple and the rest of the participants will have to fight with us for the championship and leadership" Tatiana Navka: "I am very glad that I participate in this competition. He is very diligent, attentive, easily communicate and it is easy to dance with him. I am glad that I have got such a fantastic friend. I understand that the fight in this competition will be very tough. But always before any stage entrance I say myself: "You will do everything that depends on you." Alexander Litvinenko: "We have prepared a very interesting number, which combines the Latin American basis, the elements of pasodoble and cha-cha-cha and Russian music. We have amazing choreographer Victor Nikovsky, one of the most powerful coaches in Russia. I trusted him completely, because for me he has big credibility, I have seen abroad people who absolutely do not understand Russian, but they clapped to the dances choreographed by him on Russian music. Therefore, I was just proposing some nuances: Let me jump here, and let us do so here. We have a great tandem - Victor, Tatiana and me. We fit each other very well. About Tanya I can say that she is my type of person. It is difficult with her, but interesting. She has a temperament, beauty, plastic, character. She is a very strong personality, temperament, we both come from Ukraine and are similar in temperament. Rehearsals it is hard work, pain everywhere, legs and knees in bruises, but we want to make sure that this performance will be liked not only by our compatriots. We represent Russia. 20/08 Short notice about participation of Alexander and Tatiana has been published today by Life.ru: - It is both difficult and interesting for me, because Tatiana is very bright personality and talented person - told Litvinenko. - She is very strong, despite being blond. 18/08 One and a half month after ESCKaz has revealed names of Russian entrants, Channel One briefly mentioned participation in Eurovision Dance Contest on their website. Besides names of participants, it doesn't contain any additional information.	�� , �� ESCKaz �� , �� . �� , �� -�� .
09/08 Finally, EBU has confirmed information first exclusively published by ESCKaz more than a month ago. Russia will be represented by dancing couple Tatiana Navka and Alexander Litvinenko. Unfortunately, Russian Channel One has not published anything yet, connected with it's participation in the contest, though the couple has been selected in June already. 06/08 It's exactly one month till the big European event, but for some reason, couples from UK and Russia are still not revealed. Despite the rules prescribe all couples to be selected and necessary information submitted by 11th of July, it is not known when revelations for this two countries will take place. Representatives of Russian Channel One have only informed us that the announcement "will be done in due time". 03/07 At the beginning of July majority of participating countries have already decided on their entrants in 2008 Eurovision Dance Contest. Just 2 countries (Spain and Lithuania) are still running open preselections, which should be concluded in the beginning of August. In some countries, however, even as dancing couples already started rehearsing, their names have not yet been made public and are currently kept as secret. ESCKaz has learnt that agreement has been reached between two Russian broadcasters, members of European Broadcasting Union. Thus, in alternation, Russia will be represented in Eurovision Dance Contest 2008, not by channel "Rossija/RTR", which took part in this competition last year, is organizing Russian version of "Dancing With Stars" and also won Eurovision Song Contest 2008, but by "Channel One Russia", who will also host Eurovision Song Contest 2009 and likely Eurovision Talent Contest 2009 in Russia. Regarding possible entrants from the channel, we believe that celebrity chosen will be figure skater Tatiana Navka (regular member of Channel One shows Dancing on Ice and Ice Age cast), likely partnered with professional dancer Alexander Litivinenko (regular member of Dancing With Stars cast). 01/06 During the final of 3rd edition of Russian version of "Dancing With Stars" project a couple, scheduled to represent Russia at Eurovision Dance Contest 2008 - Sergei and Olga Konovaltsevy, many times prize winners at international ballroom dance competitions, were introduced to public and performed as guests of the project. Unfortunately, it seems that organizers of "Russia" broadcaster have not studied the changes in regulations of the competition, as starting from this year only professional + celebrity couples are allowed to take part in the competition. Also, announcer named Konovaltsevy couple "Russia representatives at EuroDance 2009", which actually will take place only next year.
