About me | Fertility Experiences (original) (raw)

I was born in Villafranca del Bierzo in 1960 and I grew up in La Coruña. I always wanted to be a doctor because helping others is what I like the most.

Since I was a child, music was my other passion, and the desire for self-improvement was my inspiration –the need of constantly improving everything around me.

I studied in Santiago de Compostela and then I went to Barcelona to specialize in gynaecology. I picked Assisted Reproduction because it was a very interesting new science and I fell in love with the embryos.

I have two sons: Borja and Bruno, the oldest son is the 4th generation of gynaecologists, carrying on the name Marquès!

I also have many children in other families: the first thing I do every day when I arrive at the clinic is to check the pregnancy test results; positive results make me happy, but negative ones make me angry. I won’t be happy until I see that all cycles end in success.

I divide my time as an Innovation Advisor for the FutureLife group, consultations and the R&D team. The scientific platform ResearchGate set me among the top 10% of the most influential researchers in the world. I feel very proud!

My motivations are: our patients, their story, the colleagues at Institut Marquès, team work and everybody who is part of it. I decided to use this blog to share with all of you what happens at the clinic and also my experience as a professional in this field, which, in my opinion, it’s a privilege.
