LETTERS OF GUISEPPE POGGI, ARCHITECT, GUSTAVE DALGAS, PASTOR, ADOLPH DU FRESNE, PRESIDENT, PIETRO GANZONI, ENGINEER, AND FERDINANDO GIORGI, STONEMASON,

CONCERNING FLORENCE'S EVANGELICAL CEMETERY AND ITS NOW DEMOLISHED MEDIEVAL AND RENAISSANCE WALLS

This file of letters from the Swiss Archives of Florence's Protestant Cemetery has been carefully digitized by the Archivio di Stato of Florence through the kindness of dott. Roberto Fuda. The letters discuss at length the process of demolishing the walls surrounding the Cemetery (that had been built by Arnolfo di Cambio and Michelangelo Buonarotti), for creating the viali at the time when Florence was capital of the Risorgimento's Italy. The file includes letters by Architect Giuseppe Poggi, for the city of Florence, and Pastor Gustave Dalgas, President Adolph Du Fresne, Engineer Pietro Ganzoni and Stonemason Ferdinand Giorgi and others for the Swiss Evangelical Reformed Church in Florence which owned the so-called 'English' Cemetery in what is now Piazzale Donatello.
