The mission of the Friends of the San Antonio Public Library is to support the San Antonio Public Library through fundraising, advocacy, and community involvement.
| **SAPLings Newsletter is Now Online!**The January–February 2026 SAPLings was the last mailed issue due to rising printing and mailing costs. The Executive Committee, Board, Financial Committee, and members in attendance voted this decision in at the Nov. 23, 2025, FOSAPL Board Meeting. All SAPLings Newsletters are archived on the FoSAPL website. Branch closures **Carver**While the Carver Library is in the middle of a $12.8 million project, the San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) has opened the Denver Heights Community Center, 300 Porter St., for interim service to Carver Branch Library patrons. **CortezCortez Branch Library (2803 Hunter Blvd., 78224) will temporarily close starting Tuesday, March 17 to complete interior renovations including painting, carpet and restroom renovations. No library services will be available at Cortez during renovations including outdoor Wi-Fi and access to the book drop.Texana/Genealogy**Currently, the Texana Resource Center and the entire 6th floor of Central Library is undergoing a substantial renovation and will be closed to the public for the duration of the project. Texana/Genealogy services are now available on the first floor of Central Library across from the main circulation desk during regular library business hours. Texana services are not available on Mondays. We Rely on Your Support Dear Friend,Unexpected changes in once reliable funding from government organizations and foundations have left libraries struggling. That means we need to increase our efforts because our neighborhoods and communities rely on libraries for free access to books and computer and to gatherings for readings and meetings. Here’s our ask: Declare your continued support! Renew your membership, encourage others to join, make an extra gift to remember a friend, or honor someone you admire. FOSAPL won’t cure cancer, or house the elderly, or invent flying cars, but we support our libraries where potential geniuses of all ages can get inspired.
