Fall Colors in the Eastern Region National Forests
That’s a wrap! The 2024 USDA Forest Service Eastern Region’s annual Fall Color Flickr campaign is at an end.
- The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service announced it is making up to $34 million in funding available to support innovation and jobs in the forestry sector while supporting healthy forest landscapes. The agency is seeking proposals that will spark innovation, create new markets for sustainable wood products and renewable wood energy, and expand processing capacity.

- As land managers, the USDA Forest Service recognizes the role it plays in providing high-quality habitat to support remaining bat populations. Healthy forests provide better habitat for bats and improve their ability to survive.
- The Forest Service is excited to share a brand-new tool called the Eastern Region Sites of Civil Rights & Resistance Portal to provide information about important historical Sites of Civil Rights and Resistance throughout the Region.
- Regional Connections strives to tell the Forest Service’s stories across the Eastern Region and bring people closer to the places where they work, live, and play. In today’s world, information often comes in bits and pieces that flash past us too quickly.
- The program aims to provide meaningful, nature-based educational programming and experiences that connect urban residents to the green spaces around them and their national forests.
- Recreation fees provide and enhance recreation sites, facilities, and services. Visitors benefit directly from the fees they pay.
