Funicular - Harder Bahn (original) (raw)

Harderkulm (1322m) is a small peak above Interlaken. From there to the south there is a wonderful view to the famous Berner Oberland summits: Eiger 3970m, Mönch 4107m, Jungfrau 4158m, Interlaken and the lakes Thun and Brienz..
In 1908 the Harderbahn funicular was built to facilitate the access to the Harderkulm.
The bottom station is located between the two train stations Interlaken West and Interlaken East, just on the right bank of the Aar River, the longest river of Switzerland.
The line describes a big curve with one tunnel.
The Harderbahn was completely renovated in 2008.
