Lawrence Edward Grace Oates as well as joining Captain Scott on his ill-fated journey to the South Pole grew up in Gestingthorpe Hall and his family did a great deal for the village throughout the 20th Century.

The playing field in the heart of Gestingthorpe has long played host to a Football Team in the winter and a Cricket Team in the Summer.

Before the Norman Conquest there were Romans living and working in the village - we have the remains of a Villa to confirm this.

June 2nd 2022 will be remembered for the Platinum Jubilee of our Majesty Queen Elizabeth II ascent to the throne. Here we document the creation of the village beacon.
