Disobedient Thoughts

Ghada Amer will be exhibiting here and for the first time her most recent colored bronze sculptures (Colored Thoughts) along with a number of large new embroidered canvas paintings.

Ma Grande Odalisque avec Cadre

This group show invites a number of artists to produce their own version of one of the Louvre’s masterpieces. On this occasion, Ghada Amer pays tribute to one of her favorite artists, Ingres, and offers a feminist “copy” of his “La Grande Odalisque.”

Art Basel-Paris Public Programs

Ghada Amer is proud to be part of the Basel Paris Public programs, showing her Paravent Girls: Suzy Playing, Jennifer and Barbara, L’Étonnement d’Amélie (2021-2022).

The Infinite Woman

In this group show which centers around the representation of woman throughout history, Ghada Amer exhibits her bold 2021 canvas "La Grande Nymphéa," a nod of course to Monet's famous Nymphéas.

Unravel: The Power and Politics of Textiles in Art

This group show received accolades from visitors and critics alike when it first opened at the Barbican last year. The Times gave it **** and called it "a breathtaking, glittering riot."

Playing with Mud

Ghada Amer will be exhibiting here and for the first time some of her most recent ceramic works (wall plates, sculptures and abstract pieces) produced while a long-term resident at the Princeton Art Council (2023-today).

About Ghada Amer

Ghada Amer is an internationally recognized artist with a vast range of works that include not only painting, but also bronze sculptures, clay ceramics, prints, installations, videos, and outdoor gardens. She is represented by major galleries in New York, London, Korea, and South Africa. Her works are sought after by private collectors, and are a permanent part of key museum collections around the world (including for example the Centre Georges Pompidou, The Art Institute of Chicago, the Barjeel Art Foundation, the Brooklyn Museum, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Arab Museum of Modern Art and the Fond National d’art contemporain).

It is while in art school that I realized that the history of art and of painting especially was almost exclusively dominated by men. And it is this realization that led me to embroider and to paint with thread. I am a painter above all. Thread and needles are my brush.
