Charterhouse School in Godalming

Welcome to Godalming! Godalming is situated in some of the finest countryside in southern England and has a population of just over 21,000. It is midway between London and the south coast and both are easy to reach by public and private transport.

It contains narrow attractive streets, lined with many ancient and historic buildings, and lies alongside the River Wey. Godalming is twinned with Mayen and Joigny.

Location has played a major role in Godalming’s history, it was first recorded in the will of King Alfred the Great of Wessex in AD899. Godalming is a town with many famous sons and daughters and in 1881 became the first town in the world to have a public electricity supply.
