TV ratings - January 25: BBC's old Tricks beats ITV newcomer (original) (raw)

A repeat of BBC1's drama New Tricks once again outperformed ITV1's linked comedy and soap Moving Wallpaper and Echo Beach on Friday night, January 25.

New Tricks pulled in 5.1 million viewers and a 22% share over an hour from 9pm, up 500,000 and three percentage points on last week, according to unofficial overnight figures.

Behind-the-scenes comedy Moving Wallpaper fell to its lowest level yet, picking up 3.2 million viewers and a 14% share from 9pm. This was down 300,000 from last week and 1.8 million from its launch.

Cornwall-based soap Echo Beach added 100,000 on last week to pull in 2.9 million viewers and a 12% share at 9.30pm.

Last Friday, Channel 4's Cookalong Live eclipsed its ITV1 rivals, but the channel could not do the same this week, with movie repeat The School of Rock drawing 1.6 million viewers and a 7% share between 8pm and 10pm.

Channel Five's US drama NCIS scooped 2.2 million viewers and a 10% share in the 9pm hour, while BBC2's The Choir Revisited pulled in 1.8 million and 8% in the same slot.

BBC1's soap EastEnders picked up 9.7 million viewers and a 41% share at 8pm, while comedy Jam and Jerusalem attracted 3.2 million and 13% at 8.30pm.

The first Friday night edition of Coronation Street pulled in 10.2 million viewers and a 46% share at 7.30pm, with The Great Drain Robbery: Tonight at 8pm picking up 3.9 million and 17%.

A second instalment of Coronation Street attracted 9.3 million viewers and a 39% share at 8.30pm.

BBC1's News at 10pm pulled in 5 million viewers and a 48% share over 35 minutes, while Al Murray's Happy Hour on ITV1 attracted 2.5 million and 13% in the 10pm hour.
