A ten-day hiking festival on the Cabot Trail and Northern Cape Breton that features guided hikes, evening activities & presentations, the hiker distance award, opening & closing ceremonies and a photo contest.

Festival Updates & News – (Sept.21, 2024)

1) Today’s (Sept. 21, 2024) hikes are Franey at 9:00 am., Freshwater Lake & Look-off at 10:00 am. and Jigging Cove Lake at 2:00pm. All hikes are located around the community of Ingonish & Area. Tonight activity – Closing ceremonies at Festival Headquarters in Ingonish at 7:00 pm. There will be pizza for hikers from 6:15 pm.- 7 pm. Today’s weather is a mix of sun and cloud. 30 percent chance of showers this morning. Wind northeast 20 km/h gusting to 40. High 20. UV index 5 or moderate.

3 Peaks Challenge

The 14th Annual Cape Breton Highlands 3 Peaks Challenge will take place June 22, 2024. Teams hike 3 mountains in one day. They are Roberts Mtn., Corney Brook, and Acadien. Check out this short video on last year’s event.
