After a successful trial the 20-year-old, who also interested the likes of Aston Villa and Lille, agreed a move to Boro last week from his boyhood club Fola Esch.
He has already been capped by Luxembourg at international level and the country are very pleased they have done so, as fears were he could be yet another Miralem Pjanic.

They are completely different players, but his talent is comparable. Like Pjanic, there is a great deal of hype around the player as he comes through the ranks in Luxembourg.
Like the Juventus midfielder Mahmutovic could have played for another nation. He was born in Pec and was eligible for Montenegro. Pjanic also grew up in Luxembourg and played for the nations under-17 and under-18 sides before opting to play for Bosnia-Herzegovina instead in 2008.
