SK Gaming defeat M5 to win ICSC 8 (original) (raw)

SK Gaming have defeated Moscow Five to win the eighth edition of the Intel Challenge Super Cup, continuing their 100% event winning streak since the inclusion of Marcus "Delpan" Larsson before the DreamHack Summer weekend.

The Grand Final between SK Gaming and Moscow Five started off on de_nuke. SK took the pistol and started to build a solid lead taking the first six rounds. Moscow Five managed to hit back and took the next eight rounds in a row. SK were able to pick up the final round in the half to go into the break 7-8 down as Terrorists.

On the second half, SK once again managed to pick up the pistol and didn't look back. They took the next nine rounds to take the first map 16-8.

The second map de_tuscan started off well for Moscow Five, they were able to take the pistol round and the next two as Terrorists. SK managed to hit back and secure the next four, with the score reading 4-3 to SK after seven rounds. From here the teams traded rounds until finally Moscow Five broke away and to take the half 9-6 at the break.

The second half saw Moscow Five come out with their continued confidence taking the pistol and the following save round. SK went for the risky early buy and it paid off, taking that round and the next. Both teams then traded rounds after round, but Moscow Fives first half lead was enough to seal victory 16-14.

de_train would be the third and final map to decide the winner. The map would require another knife round, which saw SK win, and start cs Counter-terrorists. Both teams showed amazing aggressive buying strategies and traded round for round until eventually Moscow Five got a slight lead. However this was short lived, SK managed to win a full save round thanks to nice actions by Robert "RobbaN" Dahlström with the USP. From here SK won the final round to take enter the break 7-8 down.

With only fifteen rounds remaining in the championship both teams put everything they had into it. SK managed to grab a comfortable lead and took a commanding position. A late response from Moscow Five made sure the match would go right down to the wire. In the end SK Gaming pulled through and took the map 16-12 to win the Intel Challenge Super Cup 8 final.

In the the third place decider match, Frag eXecutors came out on top, following a 2-1 victory against Virtus.pro, starting with a 17-19 loss on de_tuscan, followed by a 16-11 win on de_nuke, sealing the deal on de_dust2 with a 16-8 score line.
