Moscow Five were crowned winners of ASUS Final Battle of the Year this past weekend in Kiev, defeating KerchNET 2-0 to win the last tournament of the year.

While focus was on the third stage qualifier for IEM6 Global Challenge Kiev, ASUS FBotY took place at CyberZone in Kiev, with 225,000 rubles (equivalent to $7,070) on the line.

In attendance were third place finishers from WCG, Russian team Moscow Five, as well as teams such as DTS, KerchNET and Virtus.pro. A total of sixteen teams participated, starting in a group stage, where eight teams advance to the playoffs.

In round one of the playoffs, a hefty battle between DTS and KerchNET took place, with KerchNET claiming a 2-1 win to move on. Virtus.pro met the Ukrainians from selectah!, who eliminated the Russian team, following a 2-1 victory. In the other side of the bracket, Moscow Five met no resistance to reach the final, defeating snT and Place2Play on their way. KerchNET also made the final, as they won 2-0 against selectah! in the semi-final.

The final started on de_train, with Moscow Five claiming a 1-0 lead, winning 16-13. KerchNET couldn't bounce back on second map de_nuke, as Moscow Five won 16-8 to win 2-0 overall.

With the victory Moscow Five score a cheque of 100,000 rubles, equivalent to $3,142. The Russian team had a busy Sunday, as they participated in two tournaments, forcing them to switch between CyberZone (for ASUS FBotY) and Kiev CyberSport Arena (for IEM6 GC Kiev qualifier).

Moscow Five owner Dmitryi "ddd1ms" Smelyi released following statement regarding the cooperation of the two LAN centers:

Words of gratitude go to mouz and KerchNET teams who were waiting for us, while we were playing on two events. Special thanks go to the Moscow Five players, which despite all circumstances, successfully performed at two major events of the end of December."

In the third place decider match, Russian team Place2Play defeated selectah!, with the final standings for the event looking as listed below.
