The CW’s Arrow may have just found its Speedy.
Teen Wolf alum Colton Haynes has booked a recurring role on the freshman drama, playing Roy Harper, a teen who crosses paths with Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) sister Thea, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

As first reported by TV Guide Magazine, Haynes’ Roy is a handsome, street-savvy teen from the Glades, the poverty-stricken area of Starling City who winds up being the object of affection for Thea, despite her own misgivings and those of her family. The character, the CW confirms, is “destined” to become a significant part of her life and an important player in the drama from Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg’s world.
In the DC Comics on which the series is based, Roy Harper is Green Arrow’s teen sidekick known as Speedy, who first appears alongside the hooded hero in 1941’s More Fun Comics #73. More recently, the character was a member of the Teen Titans known as Arsenal and ultimately a member of the Justice League of America, where he was known as Red Arrow.
The pairing with Thea (Willa Holland) could bring the rookie series’ Speedy tally to two should Roy ultimately prove to be the Arrow’s right-hand man. Haynes will first appear in the Feb. 20 episode, entitled “Dodger.”

Haynes opted to leave MTV’s Teen Wolf in October, making the announcement on Twitter. “These past few yrs have been the best of my life,” he wrote. “I’m sad that this chapter has ended, but excited for a new one to begin. Thx for the love.”
