We meet at 7.30pm for an 8,00pm start on the 4th Thursday in each month at
Horley Community Centre, Regent Hall, Albert Road, Horley.
Please check our Events calendar for updates.
NOTE: With effect from January 2025 our Meeting night will be changing to the 4th Tuesday in each month.
The Society was formed on Tuesday 4th March 1952 with the main aim of trying to interest the largest possible number of the inhabitants of Horley in some part of the town’s past history.
Members have differing levels of involvement – some carry out research into topics with the intention of publishing their results while others are content to enjoy the monthly speakers and activities.
We occasionally visit local events publicising the Society and we hold regular meetings. Over the years, we have produced a number of books and booklets. Details of these are available under the heading ‘Publications’ at the top of this page . You can meet us at the Local History Centre at the Horley Public Library on Saturday mornings 10 am to midday. Our Tuesday afternoon sessions from 2.00 to 4.00 pm are suspended at present due to a lack of volunteers but we hope to resume these from April 2025. We can help with items such as the history of your road and may-be even your house, and we have access to local and some national family history resources.
For more information about our monthly meetings and the Calendar of events, click “Events” at the top of this page. Visitors are always welcome to attend our meetings for a nominal £2 entry fee.
Subscription rates are: £10.00 for individuals; £15.00 for joint/family membership at the same address.
