Celebrating The Man Behind James Bond
We are dedicated to archiving, preserving, and celebrating the legacy of the author, adventurer, and intelligence agent, Ian Fleming…and his creation, secret agent 007, James Bond.
For over 30 years, The Ian Fleming Foundation has worked with universities, museums, libraries, publishers, the James Bond filmmakers, the Fleming family, and institutions around the globe to preserve and present this remarkable history.
From restoring lost vehicles from the James Bond films to being instrumental in building major collections housed at the University of Illinois and the University of Southern California to providing scholarships, the IFF continues to do important work across the spectrum of the wide and varied James Bond phenomenon.
Current Projects
Bond In Motion
The International Spy Museum in Washington D.C. is hosting an official exhibition of iconic vehicles, all used on-screen by James Bond and his many allies and adversaries. This is a celebration of six decades of 007. The exhibition features 17 iconic pieces from the EON Productions Archive and The Ian Fleming Foundation. Props, scale models and clips from the films are also on show alongside cars, motorcycles, submarines, and more.
007 Science
Inventing the World of James Bond: The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, Illinois is hosting the first-ever official exhibition to focus on the science and technology behind the world’s longest-running movie franchise. The exhibition reveals how the Bond production team harnesses real-world science to craft 007’s gadgets and vehicles to create the movies’ thrilling stunts and action sequences. The exhibition is produced in partnership with EON Productions, the creators of James Bond films, and The Ian Fleming Foundation. The exhibit will feature 13 vehicles and more than 90 additional artifacts.
The Secret History of James Bond Podcast
The Ian Fleming Foundation is proud to sponsor the upcoming podcast from Cloverland: The Secret History of James Bond, which will delve into untold stories behind the 007 thrillers and so much more. The podcast will be hosted by John Cork, co-founder and advisory board member to The Ian Fleming Foundation, co-author of James Bond, the Legacy (with Bruce Scivally), Bond Girls are Forever (with Maryam d’Abo), and The James Bond Encyclopedia (with Collin Stutz), and director of many of the documentaries and featurettes that accompany James Bond films on DVD, Blu-ray, and digital platforms.
Your Donation Matters
The Ian Fleming Foundation preserves the physical legacy when possible. As part of that work, the IFF has obtained and restored over forty vehicles from the James Bond films, including the underwater Lotus Esprit from The Spy Who Loved Me, The Aston Martin V8 Volante special effects vehicle from The Living Daylights, the 1969 Cougar XR7 from On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, and many more. Procurement, upkeep and storage of these vehicles is expensive and vital.
The Ian Fleming Foundation currently has three areas where donations can be directed:
The IFF General Fund — Let The Ian Fleming Foundation best select the area where your donation will be most effective.
The IFF Preservation Fund — These funds will be used to procure and preserve items of historical interest to the legacy of Ian Fleming and James Bond. The largest portion of these funds has historically been directed towards purchasing and preserving Bond vehicles and props from the 007 films.
The Secret World of James Bond Podcast — These funds will be directed to the IFF-sponsored podcast, which will explore the untold and little-explored stories behind the 007 thrillers and more.
