Astolfo Araujo is a geologist with a MA and a PhD in Archaeology. During his PhD he spent one year at the Department of Anthropology, University of Seattle, USA. Coming back to Brazil he worked during several years at the Department of Historical Heritage, São Paulo City, until being hired by the University of São Paulo in 2007. Presently he is also a Senior Visiting Researcher at the University of Exeter, UK. His main line of research is linked to the application of methods from Earth Sciences into Archaeology. From the theoretical point of view, his interests are related to the application of evolutionary thought in human affairs (inside a long time perspective given by Archaeology), and the exploration of Archaeology's interdisciplinary character. |
