Was nominated for Broadway's Tony Award five times: in 1963, three time for "Stop the World - I Want to Get Off," shared with collaboratorAnthony Newley as Best Author (Musical), Best Composer and Lyricist and for book music and lyrics as part of a Best Musical nomination; in 1965, again with Newley, as Best Composer and Lyricist for "The Roar of the Greasepaint - The Smell of the Crowd;" and 32 years later, in 1997, on his own as Best Book (Musical) for "Jekyll and Hyde." Most unfortunately, he never received a Tony Award.
He was awarded the O.B.E. (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in 2001 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to the film industry and to the theatre. He was a writer, composer, and lyricist.
Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1989.
Had a son, with Yvonne Romain, named Adam Bricusse who was born on April 4, 1964 in London. He had been a practicing artist since then, having worked and exhibited globally.,.
Famously composed two classic James Bond songs: "Goldfinger" and the title song "You Only Live Twice," recorded by Nancy Sinatra.
