Skinny Williams Live at Blue Stem Chicago jazz concert review and photos by Brad Walseth (original) (raw)

Story and Photos by Brad Walseth

Walking down the street and found myself outside Blue Stem, the North side W. Irving Park Rd. bar that features some interesting musical entertainment. My first time to the location and who do I discover is playing, but smooth and talented saxophone star Skinny Williams and his solid backing band.

An open invitation to come on in and enjoy the music in a friendly and comfortable atmosphere: who could resist? Fabulous tasty martinis and great music from Skinny and his band: Will Kurk on keys, Ted Brewer on bass and Tony Dale on the skins - could it get any better?

One of the nicest guys around, Skinny really knows how to play and entertain the crowd, and I highly recommend catching him any time you can. I would also say Blue Stem is a pretty cool place to hang at for people looking for fun, drinks and great music. Skinny is back this Wednesday night, and another one of my favorites - David Jennings' Acoustic Ensemble will knock you out on Monday night.
