Austin College Solstice Calendar
Texas granite, stainless steel and water, 20'h x20'w x40'l
Commissioned by Austin College, Sherman, TX just north of Dallas. It was designed to be sited between the Art and Science Buildings on campus and is Van Alstine first public art "calendar". It uses the movement of the sun to create a shadow that tracks each day position in the yearly cycle climaxing on the winter and summer solstice.
