In Brief:

Overall, for common high-volume surgical procedures, operative times and patient complexity have significantly increased over time. Journal of the American College of Surgeons. 241(5):745-755, November 2025.

However, the association with improved survival is clinically annulled in the absence of a negative-margin resection.

In Brief:

A comprehensive departmental opioid reduction toolkit reduced discharge opioid prescriptions by 67.1% by introducing several low cost, scalable interventions aligning patient prescriptions with need. We demonstrated a 3.4-fold increase in opioid-free discharges, reduced average prescription sizes, and reduced odds of postdischarge prescriptions.
