DOB: May 5th, 1965

Mini biography: Lee Hartley was born in Havant Hants, Hampshire England 1965; he lived there until he was ten. In his first decade he was a member of the schools drama, brass band and choir clubs. He went on to perform in local pantos and sang in the Hampshire schools choir. His father took Lee and family back to his native New Zealand and settled in Palmerston North in 1975.

At the age of 13 Lee became an apprentice jockey. By the time he was twenty he had also completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter. Lee went on to Wellington to pursue his love of the arts and was soon involved in local professional productions.

After completing dip arts in performance in the UK, he returned to New Zealand and completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and film at Victoria University.

There on, Lee has performed in numerous TV, film and theatre productions. In 2001 he was nominated for best performance at the New Zealand film awards for his lead role in the short film �A New Way Home�

Working on Lord of the rings trilogy, Lee found a new challenge as a performer. He endured hours of full body prosthetic make-up for his many roles in the rings trilogy. �The physicality of the performance was very demanding. My facial and bodily movements needed to be accentuated more than I was use to, to make my characters come to life. It was an acting experience I was grateful to learn�

The vision, skill and dedication of Peter Jackson, Richard Taylor and team made Lee very proud that he was involved with something very special.

� To be asked back to work by Peter and team, for a role in � King Kong� is a wonderful thing for me as an actor. It tells me I did my job well, which makes me feel very proud indeed.�
