Much as I know you guys like pictures, I regret to say that between Mom, niveK, Suzi, and I the cake didn't survive long enough to actually take any shots of it. Cake part was dryer than usual, due to a little upset in preparation, but the icing was to die for!

As I got enough requests for a followup, here's the recipe for it. Top part is the cake, bottom part is the icing. Sadly you'll have to work out translating Mom's writing as best you can...

This post was originally intended for food_porn but in case it didn't meet with approval, I wanted to make sure I had a copy of it somewhere.

This year was the 1st time I was actually around when it was being made. I can't tell you much about it though as my brain sort of switched off when the scent of the icing cooking reached me. All I can say for sure is that I was vibrating in the kitchen for a fairly long stretch.
