What is the Ratings feature? (original) (raw)

LiveJournal has tree popularity-based features:

Top Ratings are available to everyone on the Livejournal | Ratings page.
For Cyrillic Services users, Ratings of cyrillic users and communities are displayed. For non-Cyrillic users, Ratings of non-cyrillic users and communities are displayed. There is 'Ratings' droprown menu on the Ratings page to switch between them.

Ratings Visibility for an Individual Entry

Even if you have activated the Ratings feature for your journal or community, you can still prevent an individual entry from being included in the Ratings feature. This is done by activating the Do not display entry in the ratings checkbox on the Update Journal page.

This checkbox does not appear on the Update Journal page if you have not enabled the Ratings feature for your account. Also, this checkbox is automatically selected and cannot be turned off if you are posting a Private entry, since the Ratings feature cannot display Private entries.

You can also disable the Ratings feature for your account completely. To do this, go to the Privacy tab on the Account Settings page and disactivate the checkbox «This account participates in the Ratings feature. If activated, popular public entries may appear on the LJ homepage.».
