The Executive Mayor of Mahikeng Local Municipality Cllr Tshepiso Mphehlo conducted a site visit to Manyane Game Lodge yesterday following the unfortunate incident caused by fire outbreak.

“The fire was reportedly caused during subcontractor activities involving the waterproofing of roof-level concrete water channels on completed structures.”

“The subcontractors used gas torches with open flames to stretch waterproofing materials when the thatch roofing on the building they were working on caught fire. Strong winds then spread the flames to nearby structures.”

In total, three buildings were destroyed: the restaurant, the conference hall, and the entrance gate.
