Ghulam Muhammad was an Indian official in the Political Agent’s Office in Gilgit in the beginning of the 20th Century. He was one of the earliest persons to study the people of Gilgit and its surroundings from anthropological point of view. The result of this study was a book named “FESTIVALS AND FOLKLORE OF GILGIT”. This book contains a lot of information on the folklore and history of Gilgit as well as its neighboring areas like Chitral.
